Printable wall art gives you an artwork file. You arrange the paper, printing and framing separately. Before choosing a frame or ordering a large print, check the file dimensions and make a small proof.
1. Read the listing and download instructions
Check whether the purchase contains PNG, JPEG or PDF files, how many designs are included, and whether you need to extract a ZIP folder. Follow the access instructions supplied with your order and keep a backup of the original files.
2. Match the artwork's proportions
A 2:3 portrait image fits 4 × 6, 6 × 9 and 8 × 12-inch proportions. A square image fits square proportions. Choosing the correct ratio prevents unwanted cropping; it does not guarantee sharpness at every size.
3. Calculate pixels per inch
Divide the image's pixel width by the proposed print width in inches. Repeat for height. For a 1024 × 1536-pixel file printed without cropping:
| Print size | Calculation | Pixels per inch |
|---|---|---|
| 4 × 6 inches | 1024 ÷ 4; 1536 ÷ 6 | 256 |
| 6 × 9 inches | 1024 ÷ 6; 1536 ÷ 9 | About 171 |
| 8 × 12 inches | 1024 ÷ 8; 1536 ÷ 12 | 128 |
The same file spreads its pixels across more paper as you enlarge it. Our Indian folk art collection uses this 1024 × 1536 size and recommends starting with 4 × 6-inch prints. Follow the specifications of the individual product; other files may have different dimensions.
A “300 DPI” label by itself does not establish how much image detail is present. Look at the actual pixel dimensions and intended print size. Enlarging an image does not automatically restore fine detail.
4. Choose paper and inspect the preview
Use paper compatible with your printer and its settings. Matte or lightly textured paper can suit decorative artwork. Check whether the print dialog is using actual size, fit to page or automatic cropping. Preserve the full composition and any borders that form part of the design.
For a PDF already laid out on A4 or US Letter, choose the matching paper size and follow the product's printing guide. Printer margins can affect the result.
5. Make a proof before printing a set
Print one artwork at the intended size. Inspect small details, borders and colours in normal room lighting. Screen and printed colours can differ. If using a print shop, supply the original file and ask whether it suits your requested size before production.
Common questions
Does a room mockup show the exact finished size?
A mockup illustrates a styling idea. Use the file specifications to judge print suitability. Frames, furniture and props are not included.
Can I print the artwork for resale?
Check the specific product's licence. Personal-use permission does not automatically include commercial use, redistribution or resale.
What if a file will not open?
Check whether the ZIP has been extracted and whether your application supports the file format. If the issue continues, contact Next Gen Bazaar with the product name and order number.
