Which software do I need?
Use Google Sheets with a free Google account, or Microsoft 365 / Excel 2024 for the Excel file. A desktop or laptop is recommended for setup. The editions are separate; changes do not sync between them.
How do covers and digital bookshelves work?
Add a public, direct HTTPS cover-image URL to the book's row. The same link feeds the gallery and shelves. Images need internet access, and Excel may ask you to allow external images. You supply the cover links; books and cover artwork are not included. Blank cover links show title cards.
What updates automatically?
Book Log drives the connected library views and statistics. Completed books need a finish date to count toward the selected year's totals. Record reading sessions separately for minutes, pages and streaks. The calendar organizes dates without sending notifications, and Goodreads syncing is not included.
How do I get started, and can I share the files?
Unzip your download, open the PDF guide and follow the Google Sheets copy link or open the Excel workbook. Choose your settings in Setup and clear the fictional examples as instructed. Written instructions are included; a video tutorial is not included. Personal use only. Do not resell, share or redistribute the template.
